VELI LOŠINJ

Simpatičan gradić, smješten na obronku koji gleda prema zapadu. Povijesno je središte otoka aki i blizanac maloga Lošinja koji se kroz povijest brže razvijao. Nad ulazom u luku nalazi se, poput zaštitnice, barokna crkva Sv. Antuna Opata iz 17. st. Venecijanska kula iz 15. st., lijepa pročelja kamenih palača i kuća okruženih parkovima s egzotičnom vegetacijom svjedoče o bogatoj povijesti imućnom brodovlasničkom i kapetanskom gradiću.

Dieses sympathische Städtchen, das sich auf einem gegen Westen gerichteten Abhang ausbreitet, stellt sozusagen den historischen Kern der Insel dar. Zudem ist Veli Lošinj auch Zwillingsbruder von Mali Lošinj, welches aber später eine weit schnellere wirtschaftliche Entwicklung erlebte. Direkt über der Hafeneinfahrt erhebt sich wie eine Schirmherrin der Stadt, die Barockkirche des hl. Anton aus dem 17. Jh. Der venezianische Turm aus dem 15. Jh., die schönen Vorderfronten von Steinpalästen und Häusern, umgeben von Parks mit exotischer Vegetation, zeugen von einer reichen Vergangenheit und einer Stadt wohlhabender Schiffseigner und Kapitäne.

Questa simpatica cittadina, situata sul versante che guarda verso oriente, è il vero centro storico dell'isola. Sorta quindi anteriormente alla gemella Lussinpiccolo che poi ha avuto le condizioni per svilupparsi maggiormente. Doppo l'entrata nel proticciolo si eleva, quasi a protezione della cittadina, la chiesa di S. Antonio Abate del 17. secolo. Ma anche la torre veneziana del 15. secolo, le antiche case in pietra e le ville d'epoca, circondate da giardini e piante esotiche ci parlano di un passato ricco di storia e cultura.

A lovely little town, set on a hill facing west. It is the historical centre of the island and a twin town of Mali Lošinj, which developed faster through history. Above the entrance to the harbour, as if watching over it, stands the baroque Church of St. Anthony from the 17th century. The Venetian Tower from the 15th century, the beautiful fronts of stone palaces and houses, set in parks with eyotic vegetation, remind us of the history of this town of wealthy shipowners and sea captains.

Prijetno mestece na zahodnem obronku z zgodovinskim središčem, ki se je pospešeno razvijalo zaradi bližine Malega Lošinja. Na vhodu v luko je kakor zaščitnica baročna cerkev sv. Antona iz 17. stoletja. Beneški stolp iz 15. stoletja ter lepa zunanjost kamnitih palač in hiš, obkroženih s parki z eksotično vegetacijo, pričajo o bogati zgodovinski tradiciji tega pomorskega kraja.
